After 34 years of dedicated service to Nebraska public education, including the past nine years leading Beatrice Public Schools, Superintendent Jason Alexander has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2027.
Mr. Alexander began his educational journey in January 1994 as a sixth-grade teacher and coach in Sargent, Nebraska. His career later took him to Burwell and Ord, where he served in various administrative roles before becoming superintendent of Ord Public Schools in 2011. In 2018, he joined the Beatrice Public Schools family.
Throughout his career, Mr. Alexander has remained committed to one fundamental belief:
“Public education is the great equalizer. It opens its doors to every child and provides opportunities for students to learn, grow, and build a better future, regardless of their background or circumstances.”

During his tenure, Beatrice Public Schools has celebrated significant accomplishments, including the opening of our new elementary school and preschool, continued investments in student learning and opportunities, planning for expanded Career and Technical Education facilities, and a commitment to long-term financial stability.
Yet, when reflecting on his career, Mr. Alexander says his greatest memories will always be the people.
“The buildings, programs, and accomplishments will always matter, but the people are what I will remember. I've been blessed to work alongside incredible teachers, staff, administrators, and Board members who genuinely care about kids. I have never felt like I had to lead this district alone.”
As he looks toward retirement, Mr. Alexander looks forward to spending more time with his partner, Chas, his children, and his growing family of grandchildren. “It’s time for me to be more of a grandpa,” said Mr. Alexander.
While his retirement has been announced, his commitment to Beatrice Public Schools remains unchanged.
“We still have important work ahead of us. My goal is to finish strong and leave Beatrice Public Schools academically, financially, and organizationally positioned for continued success.”
As we celebrate this year's district theme, The Power of Us, Mr. Alexander reminds us that the success of our schools has never been about one person. It is about students, staff, families, the Board of Education, and an entire community working together.
“Serving Beatrice Public Schools has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. I will forever be grateful for the relationships, friendships, and memories we've created together. I came here hoping to make a difference, but the people of Beatrice have made an even greater difference in my life.”
