CLIVE, Iowa — Aug. 7, 2026 — Overnight closures on U.S. 6/Hickman Road in Clive were originally scheduled to begin Sunday, Aug. 9. Due to weather, the work has been pushed back and will now begin Monday, Aug. 17, and end Friday morning, Aug. 21, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Grimes construction office.
Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21
From 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, until 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, crews will fully close U.S. 6/Hickman Road between the I-35/I-80 ramp terminals to place bridge girders. The work will also require closing both left lanes on southbound I-35/westbound I-80.
Drivers should follow the marked detour route shown below during these closures.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
