It is time for Siouxland to show off the power of the pedal. The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with SIMPCO, Siouxland District Health Department, Downtown Partners, and the City of Sioux City, will once again host Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Bike to Work Day is part of a national movement held throughout the month of May, endorsed by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and promoted by the League of American Bicyclists. The initiative highlights the many benefits of bicycling, from improving personal health to reducing traffic congestion, and demonstrates that biking can be a practical alternative for commuting.
Community members are encouraged to leave their cars at home and ride their bikes to work. For those unable to bike the entire distance, participants are still invited to join by bringing their bike along, enjoying a ride on Siouxland’s tri-state trail system, and stopping by the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce for a morning celebration.
A complimentary breakfast will be served in the Siouxland Chamber parking lot at 101 Pierce Street from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., with food and beverages provided by Aggies, Council Oak Supply, Jitters, Rush Bowls, and SweetWater Cafe. Attendees can also connect with local health and fitness vendors, including 712 Fit, Heartland Counseling Services, Multicare Health Clinic, Siouxland Community Health Center, Siouxland Cyclists, Siouxland District Health Department, and Thrive Wellness Center, and register for prize drawings and other giveaways.
Bike to Work Day T-shirts are available for purchase for $10 at the Siouxland Chamber and at the event. Registration is available at Siouxlandchamber.com.
Organizers encourage businesses, employees, and residents across the region to participate in this fun, healthy, and community-focused event. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and photos on social media using the hashtag #SCBike2Work.
