As Pottawattamie County prepares to host The Wall That Heals over Memorial Day weekend, community members are invited to participate in a series of ceremonies and special events honoring Vietnam veterans, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and reflecting on the lasting impact of military service.
The Wall That Heals, a traveling three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., honors the more than 58,000 service members who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. The exhibit provides veterans, families, and communities an opportunity for remembrance, reflection, healing, and education closer to home.
Following its arrival in Pottawattamie County on May 20 and setup on May 21, The Wall That Heals will officially open to the public on Friday, May 22, and remain open 24 hours a day through Memorial Day, closing Monday, May 25 at 2 p.m.
