The Pottawattamie County Wellness Committee's Summer Hygiene Drive has concluded with the collection of more than 800 personal care items. These items will help students throughout the Council Bluffs Community School District begin the upcoming school year with access to essential hygiene products.
Donated items included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair care products, feminine hygiene products and other everyday essentials. The supplies will be distributed by the Council Bluffs Community School District to students as needs arise during the school year.
"This was a tremendous example of what can happen when county employees and community members come together to support local students," said Rikayla Champlin, Senior Administrative Assistant and Wellness Committee member. "We're incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and helped make this drive a success."
The Wellness Committee extends its appreciation to the community businesses and county facilities that hosted donation bins throughout the drive, making it easy for residents and employees to contribute, including Fareway, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office, Public Health and 911 Communications. The Wellness Committee would also like to thank Target for its generous donation of hygiene supplies and the Council Bluffs Community School District for its partnership in getting these items into the hands of students who need them.
