LINCOLN, Neb., Sept. 2, 2026 — The Nebraska Department of Transportation is partnering with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to promote transportation innovation in Nebraska with the help of recent federal grants.
NDOT was awarded a total of $5.15 million through the Build America Bureau and FHWA technical assistance grants. These funds will support a project delivery framework to evaluate and implement alternative delivery methods, innovative financing, and public-private partnerships for major transportation projects in seven counties in eastern Nebraska.
The grants include a $2 million Prioritization Process Pilot Program Grant, a $1.15 million ACCEL-NE Regional Infrastructure Accelerator Grant, and $2 million from the Innovative Finance and Asset Concession Grant Program.
A celebration of the grant awards and transportation partnerships will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Physicians Mutual Insurance, 2600 Dodge St., Omaha.
Governor Jim Pillen will join FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster, Build America Bureau Executive Director Morteza Farajian, NDOT Director Vicki Kramer, Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr., and Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce CEO and State Highway Commissioner Heath Mello for the event.
